Key Policy 2026

Keyless Entry Policy

At Fuzzy Friends, we are committed to continuously improving the safety, security, and reliability of our in-home pet care services. As part of that commitment, we are transitioning to a keyless entry system for all client homes by the end of Summer 2026.

This update reflects a broader shift already in place for new clients and will be extended to all households as part of a full transition period.

Transition Timeline

Fuzzy Friends will no longer retain physical client keys, fobs, or garage door openers. During this transition period, existing access arrangements will continue to be honored while clients update their preferred entry method.

Physical keys currently held on file can be picked up by the client or securely recycled based on client preference. If no preference is provided, stored keys will be securely recycled after the designated transition period.

Approved Entry Methods

Moving forward, home access will be managed using one of the following secure options:

  • Garage door code
  • Door keypad code
  • Secure hide-a-key system
  • Lockbox Option

Lockboxes do not need to be visibly placed on front doors. They may be installed in a discreet location on the property.

Clients may choose to purchase a lockbox through Fuzzy Friends or provide their own. Each lockbox remains fully controlled by the homeowner, including key access and code management.

Backup Key Requirement

For homes using a garage code or door keypad code as the primary entry method, a physical backup key must also be secured on the property. This can be stored in either a lockbox or a secure hide-a-key location.

This safeguard ensures uninterrupted access in the event of:

  • Power outages affecting garage systems
  • Keypad battery failure
  • Unexpected technical malfunctions

Homes using a lockbox as the primary access method do not require an additional backup key, as the key is already secured onsite.

Why This System Is Being Implemented

This update is designed to improve both security and service efficiency by:

  • Ensuring clients maintain full control of home access at all times
  • Eliminating the need for physical key transfers or storage
  • Allowing faster response times for visits and urgent care
  • Reducing delays in emergency or last-minute situations

Fuzzy Friends is dedicated to providing safe, dependable, and stress-free care for every pet and home we serve.
